Suppose your site have 10 pages related to sports. Then you can just inter link all these pages. But dont inter link a sports page from a say wedding page. Only inter link similar pages. More internal links you have more likely to get good traffic from google. Internal links are important because when you have good internal linking structure more likely your pages will appear in google's main index. And good traffic on your site will increase the probability for your ads being clicked by site visitors which will increase your earnings.
